Conformateur

Maillard Allie conformateur head measuring stretcher sizer hat mold making conformer tool, made in Paris, France, circa 1800. It is an amazing, beautifully designed object, suitable for mechanical enthusiasts, milliners or hat makers to display.  In good working order, one small clasp with pink arrow in photo is malfunctioning, but it does not affect the functioning of the conformateur. It is indeed rare to find a functioning conformateur.

The Conformateur, is a French Designed and patented tool used to measure the head size and shape of a person’s head, so that a custom-made hat can be built to fit the head by a hat maker.  Formillion not included.
